1. Introduction

Services/Contact Information

● Career Guidance

Provide assistance for students in gaining knowledge regarding future workplace, narrowing the gap between academic knowledge and vocational practicing; offer Employability Training courses and hold career fairs; set up the Career Information Site to provide information about latest job openings and vocational training

● Student Internship

Promote student internship; serve as a matchmaker for students and companies offering internship opportunities; put out the Internship Handbook to remind students dos and don’ts during internship; set up the Internship Information Site to provide information on internship

● Reward for certificate holder

Reward students who obtain certificates and licenses; grant subsidy for departments to set up guidance and assistance courses of certificates and licenses in hopes of improving students' skills and employability

● Alumni Service

Hold alumni exchange and reunion activities; send E-mails regarding latest job openings to alumni; help the Alumni Association with its administration; unite alumni of First Tech and track their status

2. Career Guidance

1. Employability Training lecture courses

Invite alumni and lecturers from industries to share their experience and knowledge regarding the must-needed job skills and expertise in hopes that their career building and development and wisdom can enlighten students to contemplate and even plan their career future .

There are five types of the lecture courses, including career building, employment preparation, equality in the workplace, career ethics and National Examinations (for public service) .

2. Career fairs

Cooperate with universities in southern Taiwan, the Labor Affairs Bureau, and the Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training.

Career fairs will be held every second semester.

3. Information about latest job openings

Gather information on latest job vacancies and vocational training for students in school and alumni.

4. Guidance and assistance on employment and career

This guidance and assistance service is available from 09:00 to 17: 00 through Monday to Friday.

3. Student Internship

1. Introducing the Student Internship service

Promote student internship; serve as a matchmaker for students and companies offering internship opportunities; put out the Internship Handbook to remind students dos and don’ts during internship; set up the Internship Information Site to provide information on internship

" While in school, students shall cease any opportunity to absorb practical experience and improve employability for entering workplace."

Through internship and on-site observation of business operations, data analysis and marketing ability, resilience to emergency, management of interpersonal relationship, and teamwork skills shall be improved; under proper supervision, students shall gain practical experience, develop untapped potential, and find out their career interests. Their abilities could be re-examined, and shortages dealt with.

Regarding the internship performance assessment, internship supervisors will regularly conduct telephone or on-site interviews; students’ internship records and company responses will be documented to understand performance. Their performance will also be assessed by internship enterprises.

In school, a student being an intern can take intern courses to gain practical hands-on experience in industries and learn the right working attitude and ethics; they are able to learn how to work independently and to cope with pressure. By doing so, they can hopefully improve their employability and fill the gap with the workplace after graduation.

4. Reward for certificate holder

Reward students who obtain certificates and licenses; grant subsidy for departments to set up guidance and assistance courses of certificates and licenses in hopes of improving students' skills and employability

1. How to apply for certificate reward and subsidy?

To apply, applicants shall prepare the following documents and send them to the departments where applicants study for verification; the documents will then be handed over to the Internship and Job Placement Service Division of the Office of Student Affairs for further transacting.

1.     Application form for certificate reward (Download)

2.     Verification form of certificate and license record in the E-Portfolio website (Link)

3.     Photocopy of certificate and license (Photocopy of score certificate is applicable for Language Proficiency certificates)

2. Application Deadline (Take effect on 1st June, 2013)

The term for application is half a year after obtaining certificate; the application procedure and issue of reward is carried out on a regular basis

Submission Date (first please send the needed documents to the departments where applicants study for verification)(Date of Review Committee held)(Date of reward money entered the applicants account).

Additional Information

-> To enter data of certificate and license at E-Portfolio, the effective date and certificate number shall be filled out as following instructions :

1.     Please fill out the date blank in accordance with the certificate; if only year and month info is provided, the day blank should be filled with 1st.

2.     The date blank and certificate number for Language Proficiency Certificate is the date of examination and the test (registration) number

-> Students who haven’t enter account information please add new account info at the Remittance Account Number Management Website at the website of Office of General Affairs

-> Money transfer fee (NT$30) will be imposed for non-Bank-of-Taiwan accounts.

-> If students obtain some certificates and licenses that are not included for reward and subsidy, he or she can file for reward qualification review for the said certificates and licenses.
